Ossett Brewery was founded in 1998 at the back of the Brewers Pride on Low Mill Road. Founder and Chairman Bob Lawson started the brewery following a 30 year career brewing for Joshua Tetleys, Beverley Brothers and Kelham Island. Many of the original beers including Excelsior and Silver King are still produced today and have gone on to win many awards, including Excelsior being named ‘SIBA Supreme National Champion Beer of Britain’ in 2003. Within their estate, three sites have microbreweries in their cellars: Riverhead, Fernandes and Rat Brewery, between them producing a huge range varied and interesting beers each week

The Brewery started in the 1960’s during the new-wave revolution of home brewers creating authentic flavours & crafting their own beers. We’ve always stayed true to our values by using the best locally grown malt, carefully selected fresh whole hop flowers & water from the ancient aquifer below us .
